Emergency Centre

The Emergency Department at EKO Hospitals offers 24-hour Medicare which is inclusive of weekends and public holidays.

Qualified Physicians and Surgeons are always on hand to treat medical cases ranging from simple cuts and broken bones to serious, life-threatening injuries.

Nurses, Physician Assistants, Paramedics and other support staff well-trained in Emergency Medicine are likewise also on hand to render the needed support to both Physicians and Patients alike.

This Department is a full-fledged one comprising all subspecialties that are to be found in a tertiary Institution/Establishment.

Diabetes & Endocrinology Centre

It has been keenly observed that the rapidly changing lifestyle in our environment caused by stress, dietary habits (fast and refined) foods, sedentary lifestyles and increased alcohol intake, has brought in its wake a rapid rise in the incidence of non-communicable diseases and sudden deaths.
Acutely aware of this trend, EKO Hospital has set up the Centre to meet the requirements of diabetics and sufferers of other endocrinological problems such as thyroid, infertility, menstrual, obesity, pituitary malfunction, etc.

More specifically, the need for this Centre arose from the following observations made:
  • the increasing number of diabetic patients picked up routinely during Comprehensive Health Screening exercises carried out on patients
  • outpatient visits to the Hospital
  • frequent referrals of diabetic and other endocrine disorders
  • our policy of providing adequate health education with efficient, comprehensive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical services

It is a centre for the dissemination and sharing of information as well as screening and treating of patients so as to achieve an improved quality of life as well as longer life expectancy.

Dietetics

Dietetics is the combined science and art of regulating the planning, preparing and serving of meals to individuals or groups under various conditions of health and disease in accordance with the principles of nutrition and management.
Its goals are to maintain good nutritional status, correct diseases and promote healthy living standards through adequate nutrition support.

Renal Dialysis

EKO Hospital provides ongoing haemodialysis for patients with renal failure. To improve the quality of service delivery and remain ahead of competition, brand new B/Braun Dialog Dialysis Machines are available for Renal Dialysis in EKO Hospital, Ikeja. These highly interactive machines are top-of-the-range and have inbuilt hard drives for the recording, storage and retrieval of patients’ data while in operation.

Paediatrics

The services rendered in the Department include general Paediatrics, Neonatology and Paediatric Endocrinology

Preventive Medicine – Child Healthcare Scheme (0 – 5 years of age)

Neonatology: Standard Neonatal Unit with functional incubators; trained personnel have helped in no small measure to reduce mortality rate in premature babies. Babies 0.5 – 1.0kg have been managed successfully due to exceptionally high quality care.

All routine child immunizations cover Heamophillus, Influenza, Yellow fever, Chicken Pox, Reta Virus and MMR Vaccines.
The Department also engages in bi-monthly comprehensive check of babies at risk of developmental delay, retardation or complications from diseases. These include:
o    Premature babies
o    Babies that do not cry well soon after birth
o    Jaundice management
o    Babies that had exchange blood transfusion
o    Cases of meningitis
o    Congenital effects
o    Sickle cell patients in stable state
o    Seemingly healthy babies for early detection of health problems
Patients under the scheme are entitled to bi-monthly consultation with the Chief Consultant Paediatrician for one year at affordable cost.

Pain Management and Rehabilitation Centre

This is the Centre for assessment and treatment of a broad spectrum of disabilities, painful joints, muscle paralysis, (e.g. stroke, spinal cord injury, injection paralysis, etc), Neuralgia, Arthritic pain, work-induced stress and strain.

It is also a one-stop Centre for treatment of all kinds of painful conditions such as joint pains, back pains, neck pains, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic injuries (sport injuries) and rehabilitation.

The Pain Management Centre is made up of experienced Pain Physicians, Physiotherapists, Certified Nursing Practitioners and Health Consultants. Patients will find that they will benefit from thorough evaluation with appropriate treatment modalities for all kinds of musculoskeletal and painful conditions.
